Welcome to
The Joseph Whitaker School

The Joseph Whitaker School is located in Rainworth near Mansfield. The school joined the East Midlands Education Trust on the 1st September 2016. We believe that we have a culture and ethos which enables every child to thrive and develop into a confident young adult whilst achieving excellent qualifications in readiness for their future.

We cater for all students’ needs and ambitions, whatever their starting point. Examination outcomes are strong and we offer a broad and balanced curriculum throughout all key stages. In addition to the taught curriculum, we offer a multitude of additional opportunities and hope that your child takes full advantage of the activities that we have to offer.

The Joseph Whitaker School has Specialisms in both Sport and Performing arts. The school became a specialist Sports College in September 2004 and in 2012 the sports specialism was expanded to add focus on performing arts. Our provision, outcomes and commitment to the values and benefits have been recognised nationally. We are a Gold Partner school for the Youth Sport Trust, and the lead school in Nottinghamshire for leadership and volunteering. The skills, self-esteem and opportunities created by the performing arts are seen as vital ingredients in delivering the schools vision.

Before we broke up for the Easter break a group of 13 students and two teachers visited the Ideagen offices in Ruddington.

Whilst there, students were given a tour of the building to all of the departments, they learnt about the company and participated in a coding activity and a masterclass where students were challenged to design an app which could be used in the sporting world. To finish off the day they met the CEO Ben Dorks and were invited to ask him questions about his career and business.

The students involved asked lots interesting questions and participated fully in all of the activities and represented the school well, a big thanks to Ideagen and Nottingham Forest Community Trust of hosting us.
