Welcome to
The Joseph Whitaker School

The Joseph Whitaker School is located in Rainworth near Mansfield. The school joined the East Midlands Education Trust on the 1st September 2016. We believe that we have a culture and ethos which enables every child to thrive and develop into a confident young adult whilst achieving excellent qualifications in readiness for their future.

We cater for all students’ needs and ambitions, whatever their starting point. Examination outcomes are strong and we offer a broad and balanced curriculum throughout all key stages. In addition to the taught curriculum, we offer a multitude of additional opportunities and hope that your child takes full advantage of the activities that we have to offer.

The Joseph Whitaker School has Specialisms in both Sport and Performing arts. The school became a specialist Sports College in September 2004 and in 2012 the sports specialism was expanded to add focus on performing arts. Our provision, outcomes and commitment to the values and benefits have been recognised nationally. We are a Gold Partner school for the Youth Sport Trust, and the lead school in Nottinghamshire for leadership and volunteering. The skills, self-esteem and opportunities created by the performing arts are seen as vital ingredients in delivering the schools vision.

We are currently experiencing problems with one of the boilers in the upper school, which means some classrooms will not have heating for the next couple of days.

Students are advised to wear an additional layer, ideally this should be a school jumper. If your child does not have a plain blue v neck jumper then they are permitted to wear a dark jumper without a hood.

As we sit at Calais in the queue for UK Border Control on our return from Austria, it’s a great opportunity to share some images from the five days of skiing and snowboarding of this Easter’s trip! We also enjoyed a swimming excursion to Therme Amade, a quiz night courtesy of Mr Sandhu, and a pizza and disco night at the Oberforsthof Alm.
It’s been a great trip for the 88 students and 11 staff who attended.
We have also taken photos of each ski/board group and the group as a whole. These will be distributed via email in the next few days.
