What Will I Learn?
Within the course students will develop their knowledge and understanding across a diverse range of key sporting topics including anatomy of the body, sporting injuries, nutrition and sports technology. The theory part of the course will be a mixture of written assignments and an externally assessed exam. The practical element of the course will require students to plan and lead a variety of sporting activities.
How Am I Assessed?
There are 3 components to the course of which two are assessed internally and one externally.
Component 1
Understanding the Body and the Supporting Technology for Sport and Activity
· Internally Assessed
· 30% of the total course
Component 2
Developing an Understanding of the Principles of Training, Nutrition and Psychology for Sport and Activity

· 40% of the total course
Component 3

· Internally Assessed (Practically based)

The three sports will have to consist of one team sport, one individual sport and one further option of either a team or an individual sport. This practical assessment makes up 30% and the final 10% of the practical mark is an analysis of a personal exercise programme.
What Career Options Do I Have?
This course will act as a stepping stone for students wanting to further their education in A-Level PE or join the BTEC Sport Programmes, here at The Joseph Whitaker School. We would strongly recommend this BTEC Level 2 to any student aspiring to a career in sports coaching, personal training, sports injuries or the leisure industry.
