Dear Parent and Carers,
Prospective Students – Year 7 Intake 2022
May I take this opportunity to welcome you to The Joseph Whitaker School.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation and our need to protect the staff and students of The Joseph Whitaker School we are, once again, unable to hold our School in Action Evening in the usual way.
Instead we have planned Prospective Intake Evenings which are by prior arrangement only and are aimed for those students who are currently in Year 6. Unfortunately, given the capacity restrictions at present we are unable to invite students in Years 5 and below.
We will host our events on Thursday 23rd and Thursday 30th September and we invite you to book a place at one of these, if your child is currently in Year 6.
Sessions start at 5:30pm, 6:00pm or 6:30pm and comprise of a short introduction to the school from the Headteacher, Mrs Carey Ayres, followed by a small group (maximum of 12) guided tour.
Unfortunately, people will not be able to explore the site unsupervised at this time, instead fully guided tours are in place.
We expect the entire event to last one hour and 15 minutes from the start of each time slot.
Should you wish to attend one of the sessions then we ask that you send an email to the designated email address: Intake2022@josephwhitaker.org stating which date and time you would prefer, your child’s full name, year group and current school. Please also indicate the number of people that will be attending (please be aware that we are facing restrictions on numbers at this present time). We will then confirm your places and group number via return email. Should you wish to reserve a place which includes a tour of our SEND provision please specify this in your email.
Should you not be able to attend this event or believe that you already know enough about the school to make your decision, please be aware that there is no requirement to attend the event to secure a place for your child.
All parents who secure a place for their child will be invited to the New Intake Evening in July 2022.
As you may be aware, the school has become incredibly popular and it is therefore important that you read the Nottinghamshire Admission Guidance and the criteria for admission if the school is over- subscribed for 2022-23.
Please be mindful of the following points:
I hope you will find the information contained within the School Prospectus, and the supplement, informative and a useful guide when making this very important decision.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if any further support is required.
