Sixth Form Information

We are very much looking forward to the start of new academic year in September, albeit with a number of changes due to the ongoing COVID related implications – The so called ‘new normal! I would like to take this opportunity to share some important information with both parents and students with respect to the school’s dress code, the study support programme and applications for Bursary.

Bursary 2020/21

  • Please note that all students who received bursary during Year 12 must re-apply and re-submit all supporting evidence – I have attached the documentation, of which I would recommend careful reading, as there have been a number of changes from last year. The deadline for submission of bursary applications, both new and renewals is November 2 2020. Application packs are available from Ms Chappell in the post 16 office.

Dress Code

  • Prior to lockdown it was evident that the standard of dress in the sixth form had declined and we thought it would be useful to clarify with you the Sixth Form Dress Code. Please find details attached. Mr Jacques, Head of Sixth Form, will explain to students that they will not be allowed to attend lessons should they be inappropriately dressed for school. Where practicable students may be asked to go home to change. We hope that you will understand and support fully our decision to maintain the standards of dress across the Sixth Form, in keeping with both the school environment and the standards ultimately expected within a professional workplace. We are very proud of the academic achievement and the enormous contribution Sixth Form students make to all aspects of school life. In their dress code, as in all other aspects, we look to our students to continue their work as role models and ambassadors for both the whole school and the wider local community.

Study Support Programme

Prior to the start of term, Mr Jacques, Head of Sixth form, will be contacting those students, and their parents, who we believe would benefit from the additional support offered by our ‘Study Support Programme’ – Please read the attached details.

Tutor Groups – Please note the temporary changes to registration classrooms.

Timetables:

  • Student timetables: A number of adjustments are currently being finalised in order to accommodate government COVID 19 guidance which will be communicated to students and parents on Wednesday 2 September.

Lunchtimes:

  • Until government guidance is eased students must remain on site and cannot leave school at lunchtime. Hot/Cold meals are available in the Sixth Form café or students can bring a packed lunch.

Kind regards
