What Will I learn?
This course extends A2 Mathematics and is particularly suited to those thinking of Mathematics /
Engineering-based further education. The course follows the same format and has the same proportion
of Applied and Pure Mathematics as A2 Mathematics
The standard of Mathematics required is high, a Grade 8 at GCSE is required.

A2—Further Pure 2
A2—Mechanics and Discrete Mathematics
The question paper consists of a number of questions of different lengths, type and mark allocation.
Candidates attempt all questions.
The total mark for each paper is 100. Each question paper has a duration of 2 hours.
What Career Options Do I Have?
Engineering, Computing, Finance, Business, Statistics, and Mathematics at University. Some prestigious
university courses require you to have a Further Mathematics qualification and others may adjust their
grade requirements more favourably to students with Further Mathematics.
