Summer School 2021 Report

Our successful 2021 Summer Schooltook place from Monday 9th – Friday 13th August 2021.  Sessions ran from 9.30am – 2.30pm.

The Summer School supported the transition process and helped students to catch up on missed face-to-face learning. Staff worked with students to make the move from primary school a happy and enjoyable one. The activities allowed children to get to know each other, familiarise themselves with our expectations and the school buildings.

We offered an exciting series of activities around an Animal theme including a strong focus on literacy, science, art and crafts.  Students participated in one physical activity each day.

All students were invited on the trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife – a chance to participate in an off-site activity and develop cultural capital.

On the final Friday afternoon, parents and carers were invited into school for a celebration event and hot picnic.

The Department for Education funded the Summer School through a grant totalling £30278.63
This funding was used to provide:

  • Staffing for teaching, administration and site management (including first aid)
  • Yorkshire wildlife trip
  • Lunches for students and staff
  • Teaching resources
  • Literacy development resources
